Band of Bros, f10,000 To mentor disaffected and troubled young men in Crawley and the surrounding areas. We have provided funding for young men to attend a 13 week programme called the Quest for Community which starts with a 3 day residential event and is followed by a 12 week schedule of one- to-one meetings with mentors. We have also funded training for new men to become mentors.
Momentum f22,000 To support patients and families of young people diagnosed with life limiting conditions in South West London. We have helped to fund the salary of a community family support worker and refurbished an area within the children's A&E department so that it is a calming and child friendly environment. Debra UK f74,000 The world leading charity fighting to help children and adults afflicted with the vicious skin disease, EB.We have supported the funding of EB Community Support workers and made provision for their ongoing clinical trials.
The Lunchbowl Network, f81,000 Educating and feeding the world's most deprived people in Kibera, the largest slum in Sub-Saharan Africa. We have provided a second 60 seater bus to transport children from the Kibera slum to The Good Samaritan school and funded the drivers salaries, insurance, maintenance and fuel for the year.
Alex's Wish f25,000 Taking the fight to Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne's) by funding ground breaking stem cell medical research to generate new healthy muscle in patients with Duchenne muscular Dystrophy.
The Empowerment Plan US$50,000 Creating skills training and ultimately employment for homeless people in Detroit in the manufacturing of specially designed coats for homeless people. Distributed to homeless throughout America and now the world.
Tear Fund f32,000 Working with the world's most vulnerable people in stricken areas of the world. Our contribution this year was specifically to build 8 new homes in Bangga, Indonesia after the earthquake and Tsunami that struck this region.
Story Book Dads f30,000 A valuable and unsung charity maintaining connections between prisoners and their children with inmates reading, recording and editing a bed time story for their children. Remaining connected with their families, as well as greatly serving their children, also reduces re-offending rates and improves the life chances of the prisoner on release and the immediate family members
Southall Homeless f10,000 A Catholic parish working with the endemic problem of homelessness amongst immigrants from the sub-continent.
The John Foundation f32,232 Working in Hyderabad to rescue women exploited in the sex industry. Providing them with shelter, medical assistance, training and the real prospects of employment and a bright future.
The Gary Burnstein Clinic $50,000 Providing medical care in Detroit, Michigan for the most vulnerable residents of this region where their inability to pay means they are unable to access decent healthcare provision.
