There are lots of things to love about our hoodies and not just that they are warm and cosy.

We love that all the proceeds are going to Momentum Children’s Charity – a charity that helps children suffering with life-limiting conditions and supports their families in many crucial ways but also we love that our hoodies are Made in England.

Wherever you live in the world, it is likely that the majority of the clothes in your local stores are manufactured in places like India, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar… where it can be difficult to assess the ethics of companies and how their workers are treated. Even here in the United Kingdom, a series of textile manufacturers have recently been exposed for sweatshop practises, exploiting their workers and not paying them sufficiently.

But this is not the case with The Brothers Trust hoodies.

Our hoodies are made by a fantastic manufacturer in Leicester, England called Colourways Textiles. A company where we know that the staff are well treated, well paid and the fabrics used are ethically produced.

But how do we know this?

Well, some of you might know that Dom and I met at Leeds University on a degree course called Textile Management (no longer is offered). Dom chose textiles because his options were severely limited. I chose textiles because my dad was a textile manufacturer and naturally it interested me. I was born and raised in Leicester and having the idea for the hoodie, I asked my dad if he knew of a suitable manufacturer in the UK. The city of Leicester used to be the epicentre of worldwide knitwear and my dad’s company was a small cog in a vast interconnecting machine. An industry where everyone knew everyone – let’s call them close knit - and I am pleased to tell you that the managing director of the company manufacturing our hoodies is the son of a man who my dad has known and worked with over nearly 50 years. This only came to light when my dad visited their factory. I can’t ask for a better guarantee than this and I love this connection with my past.

Due to the pandemic and in the absence of live events like premieres and screenings, The Brothers Trust have been keen to remain active by developing our range of merchandise. As well as creating income that we can grant, our products have allowed us to foster a community spirit amongst our supporters by sharing their jigsaw/dog collar photos on social media or enjoying a cup of tea or coffee with a BT mug. And now with winter upon us, we can literally stay warm in our BT hoodies – and metaphorically warm from knowing the great dual outcomes from buying one of our hoodies.

As it says in the label – wear your hoodie with pride.

As ever, thank you for your support and allowing the Brothers Trust to achieve some truly great outcomes.
